Taxicabs
There are nine franchise taxi operators in the City of Los Angeles who operate more than 2300 taxis. Be sure before boarding any taxi in the city of Los Angeles that you look for the official City of Los Angeles Taxicab Seal. Taxicabs bearing this seal are insured, have trained drivers and are regularly inspected by the City of Los Angeles. Any cab without the seal is a bandit cab with no legal authorization to operate in the City.
Six of the nine taxi companies serve the Century City area. They are: Bell Cab, Beverly Hills Cab, Checker Cab, Independent Taxi, United Independent Taxi, and Yellow Cab. Phone numbers for all of the taxi companies are listed at http://www.taxicabsla.org.
At the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical fares to major destinations.
