Abstract:
It is a great pleasure to honor Professor Antony Jameson with this special symposium in the 7th World Congress on Computational Mechanics. Jameson has had an enormous impact on the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for over three decades, opening up new avenues of research, and developing tools to solve problems thought impossible. From the formulation of a problem, to the development of the numerical technology to solve it, to the implementation of the technology in efficient tools, to its fluid dynamical interpretation, Jameson has touched most aspects of CFD.
It is impossible to cover all the areas in CFD which Jameson has touched in this special symposium. After consulting some of his former students, friends and collaborators, the organizing committee has decided to focus the theme of the symposium on two main topics: high-order methods in CFD and shape optimization. These two topics are widely viewed as among the pacing items for CFD in the near future. Therefore two sessions will be organized as part of this special symposium.
These two sessions will focus on methods development, fundamental theory and solution techniques, as well as industrial applications and promoting collaborations between scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. Contributions in all aspects of high-order CFD and shape optimization are invited. Presentations in the interdisciplinary research are strongly encouraged. Abstracts for the presentations in the two sessions should be submitted to:
